The casual, relaxed atmosphere of our town surrounds a wide variety of unique and special events, facilities, and locations. From the quiet outdoor splendor of Occoneechee State Park to our annual Virginia Lake Festival that attracts as many as 80,000 people each year to enjoy the fireworks, food, and fun, Clarksville is a quiet gem nestled within the unique natural beauty of Southern Virginia's Lake Country. Buggs Island Lake/John H. Kerr Reservoir provides tournament and non-tournament sport fishing nearly year-round, with private and municipal facilities to launch and store your watercraft. Our Fine Arts Center is the stage for multiple theatrical and musical productions each year, and our location in the heart of the Southern Virginia technology corridor allows us to provide business infrastructure that can be impossible to find in other towns of similar size.
Located within a 90-minute drive of both the Richmond, Virginia and Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, North Carolina metro areas, Clarksville truly is the best of both worlds - a quiet small town full of "southern hospitality" that is still in easy reach of the historical and cultural metropolitan centers of the cental Atlantic Coast. With the mountains just a short drive to the west, and the world-famous Virginia beaches a couple of hours east, Clarksville is right in the middle of everything you could want to raise a family or spend your retirement!
