Please join us for a free community Thanksgiving dinner buffet on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 from 5:00- 7:00 p.m. at the Clarksville Community Center at 103 Woodland Drive.

Holiday Open House- Sunday November 19th.

Come downtown on Sunday, November 19th and attend the Christmas in Clarksville Open House. Downtown merchants have special plans to be open from 1-5 p.m. with special gift ideas, discounts, and refreshments. In addition, carolers will be strolling along Virginia Avenue singing your holiday favorites. Santa Claus will be at Santa Land located in Virginia Avenue Mall. Take a ride down Virginia Avenue in a horse drawn carriage, provided by B & W Carriage of Buffalo Junction.

Thanksgiving Holiday Closing & Trash Pickup

The Clarksville Town Office will be closing at Noon on Wednesday, November 22. We will be closed on Thursday the 23rd and Friday the 24th. We will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, November 27.

Business Garbage pickup will be on Monday, November 20 and ALL residential and business garbage pickup will be on Tuesday, November 21.

There will be an EXTRA garbage pickup on Monday, November 27th for ALL residential and businesses to collect the holiday garbage.

Town of Clarksville Job Openings

Waste and/or Waste Water Operator

The Town of Clarksville is accepting applications for Water Operators and Waste Water Operators to independently operate, maintain, repair and inspect Clarksville Water and Wastewater Treatment Facilities which includes the collection and laboratory analysis of water and wastewater samples per state regulations, recording data and preparing regulatory reports, adjusting chemical feed rates, and other similar duties, The position requires a high school diploma or recognized education equivalency certificate and a valid State Driver’s license. A Commonwealth of Virginia Water License 2 and or Wastewater License 3 Certification is preferred or the ability to receive required license within one year.

Maintenance Worker

The Town of Clarksville is accepting applications for a Maintenance Worker. The employee would be responsible for assisting with the upkeep and maintenance of Town facilities, buildings, grounds, parks, cemetery, and parking areas. Responsibilities include the operation of trucks, tractors, lawn mowers, air compressor, blower/generator, weed-eaters, backhoe, brush chipper, box truck, dump trucks, spreader, jack hammer, plows, sanitation trash compactor or similar equipment.

The position requires a high school diploma or recognized education equivalency certificate and a valid State driver’s license. A valid Commonwealth of Virginia Class A or B CDL driver’s license is preferred.

Veterans Day Observance- November 10

The Mecklenburg County Veterans Memorial Committee will be hosting a Veterans Observance Ceremony on Friday, November 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Monument located at 941 Virginia Avenue in Clarksville ( in front of the Clarksville Fine Arts Center). The public is invited to attend. Please bring a lawn chair for the event. All veterans from all wars will be honored.

Trick or Treat on the Avenue

The Lake Country Chamber of Commerce of Clarksville would like to invite EVERYONE to come join the fun downtown the evening of Halloween. Bring your chairs, dress up and pass out candy for fun! There is plenty of room for anyone who wants to help pass out candy.

 

USA Vietnam War Commemoration-October 21

A USA Vietnam War Commemoration will be held at Mecklenburg County Veterans Memorial in Clarksville, Virginia on Saturday, October 21 at 3:00 p.m. Honoring all who served from November 1,1955 to May 15,1975, regardless of duty location ( in-country,in-theater, or stationed elsewhere). All will receive a “Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin”. After the service a cookout followed by Military Band Concert. Please bring lawn chairs.
